Materials Stack: Can Europe's Semiconductor Revival Cross 'Material Borders'?
The U.S. Department of Commerce has allocated $500 million to SandboxAQ, focusing on material bottlenecks such as PFAS alternatives, catalysts, rare-earth-free magnets, and battery systems. Europe's semiconductor renaissance also faces material dependencies, particularly the concentration risks of rare-earth magnets and chemicals. Quantitative AI (LQM) offers a new path for material discovery, and Europe needs to accelerate its deployment.
